Huddersfield Town striker Jon Stead was a stand-out performer as Bradford City beat Leyton Orient at the weekend.

The loaned-out frontman scored his third Bantams goal in eight appearances across all competitions as the O’s were defeated 3-1 at Valley Parade.

Stead had earlier set up the opener for Billy Knott by unselfishly squaring to the unmarked midfielder before David Mooney pulled the visitors level.

But the O's were reduced to 10 men when Chris Dagnall was dismissed for a foul on Knott and the Bantams capitalised through Billy Clarke and Stead, who punished Adam Legzdins' error to seal the three points.

Bradford are up to 10th in League I and host Dartford in the second round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Stead scored as FC Halifax Town were beaten 2-1 at The Shay in round one.

Stead’s fellow Town striker Martin Paterson made his third appearance for Fleetwood Town as they lost 1-0 at Swindon Town in League I and went close in the first half with two shots in quick succession but was foiled by home goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

Matt Crooks’ second Accrington Stanley appearance came as they lost 3-2 at home to Exeter City in League II.

And defender Jake Carroll played for Partick Thistle for the 11th time as they beat Hamilton Academical 2-0 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
