Chris Powell wants Sean Scannell to show Millwall what they’re missing if he’s selected for Town’s big Championship clash at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

The Lions were keen to sign the former Crystal Palace player during last month’s transfer window.

But Powell, who was still in the final stages of negotiations over the Town manager’s job, put the brakes on a move for the 24-year-old.

Scannell made his fourth league start at Leeds United last Saturday and is eyeing another as Powell plots his first win at the helm.

“Sean is a talent but we need to get consistency from him, and we are working to do that,” said Powell.

“He has power and he has pace, and that’s always important.”

Town, who are 22nd, have won their last three meetings with Millwall, who are currently 13th.

Like Town, they have taken just one point from the last nine, but it came against leaders Nottingham Forest, who were held goalless in South London last Saturday.
