Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has every incentive to improve the club’s win record this season.

The Terriers go into the home clash with Nottingham Forest looking for a third straight victory in the Championship for the first time since Powell took charge just over a year ago.

In the 12 months from September 3 last year when Powell was appointed, Town had a 25% win record – slightly down on the 27% in the year before he took over.

It shows the fine margins which exist for teams in the lower reaches of the Championship and illustrates why Powell is keen to steer Town into the calmer waters of the top half.

Kenny Jackett has had the biggest impact in terms of his side’s win ratio in the 12 months prior to his appointment compared to the 12 months following his arrival.

Wolves won 30% of their games in the 12 months leading up to Jackett’s appointment but 61% in the 12 months following his arrival.

Take a look at Chris Powell's first 50 games in charge below.

Birmingham’s Gary Rowett inspired the next best increase in form, with the club going from winning 21% of games leading up to his arrival to 47% of games in the following 12 months.

He’s followed by Steve Cotterill (25% to 49%), Aitor Karanka (26% to 46%) and former Town boss Simon Grayson (27% to 44%).

Four other clubs in the division have experienced drops in their win percentages following their manager’s appointment.

Reading won 37% of their games prior to Steve Clarke’s arrive compared with 33% in the 12 months afterwards.

QPR’s dropped from 30% to 26% either side of Chris Ramsey’s appointment while Bolton’s has gone from 31% to 30%.
