LEE CLARK savoured his “best night” in football – then set about plotting Town’s League I play-off final tilt at Old Trafford.
His side beat Bournemouth 4-2 on penalties after a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Galphram in a dramatic semi-final second leg. A 16,444 crowd saw Antony Kay, who started the match at centre-back and finished in midfield, head home an extra-time equaliser then drill in the clinching shoot-out spot kick.
Clark will discover Town’s Sunday, May 29, final opponents tonight, when he will be at London Road to see home side Peterborough attempt to overcome a 3-2 deficit against MK Dons.
“We’ll have a tough game whoever it’s against, and while we’re delighted to be there, we know there’s hard work to be done,” said Clark, whose side have now gone 27 league games unbeaten.
“But this has been an unbelievable night – my best in football, including my playing days.”
