RINGING Dean Saunders is at the top of Simon Grayson’s ‘to do’ list as Huddersfield Town’s busy manager starts preparations for Saturday’s tough-looking trip to Watford.

Grayson, set to extend full-back Liam Ridehalgh’s loan to Rotherham, is keen to contact his Wolves counterpart to discuss winger Adam Hammill, who returned to Molineux today.

The John Smith’s Stadium boss hasn’t ruled out trying to bring the 24-year-old back after he ended his loan spell with a spectacular last-gasp leveller in the 1-1 draw against Birmingham on Saturday.

Hammill’s second goal in 16 games (six starts) kept Town 17th in the Championship and denied former manager Lee Clark a three-point haul on is first return since his sacking last February.

“Adam is a Wolves player and we don’t yet know the view of Dean Saunders, who has only just come into the job,” explained Grayson.

“I’m not saying him coming back is out of the question, but we have to see whether Dean wants to give Adam a chance.”

Grayson, whose side have now gone 11 Championship games without a win, gave a debut to new Leicester loan midfielder Neil Danns against Birmingham.

Eighteen days of the transfer window remain and Grayson explained: “If an opportunity arises, I will have a discussion with the chairman and see what we can do.

“But bringing in players at this time isn’t always that easy. They have to be the right players and they have to be available on the right terms.

“We have already done a lot of recruitment and we have a lot of players on the books, and if we don’t bring any more in, so be it.”

Town have a development match against Wigan at Canalside today (1.00) with the likes of Scott Arfield, Calum Woods and Ian Bennett set to feature.

Meanwhile the club hope to rearrange the home Championship clash against Crystal Palace for Tuesday, January 29.

It was due to take place the previous Saturday, January 26, but Town will now host Leicester in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
