LEE CLARK says he will keep in close touch with Wakefield FC over goalkeeper Dale Crossland.

The teenager, right, who plays mainly for the UniBond League club’s Under 19 team, turned out for Town reserves in Tuesday’s clash with Middlesbrough at Emley.

With Matt Glennon unavailable and academy stopper Lloyd Allinson ruled out with a wrist injury, Town handed Crossland the chance to impress.

He was beaten early on, but grew in confidence during a totesport.com League East Division game which Town lost 1-0.

“We have a good relationship with Wakefield, and Dale stepped in to play at short notice,” explained Clark, who watches every reserve game first hand.

“I thought he acquitted himself very well, and whatever happens in the future, the experience will have done him a lot of good.

“It was a great chance for us to take a close look at him, and we will continue to monitor his progress at Wakefield.”

Town’s next reserve game is away to Rotherham on Tuesday, November 10 (2.00).

The juniors have an FA Premier Academy League match at Sunderland today (12.00) ahead of the FA Youth Cup first-round trip to Darlington tomorrow week, when kick-off is also noon.
