EX-TOWN midfielder Lee Makel could become the new manager of Scottish Second Division club East Fife.

The 36-year-old, who came through the Newcastle ranks alongside current Town boss Lee Clark, is a player at Bayview Stadium.

And he has coaching experience with Swedish club Ostersunds.

Among the challengers to Makel, who also played for Blackburn, Hearts, Bradford, Livingston, Plymouth and Dunfermline, are Stevie Crawford, another East Fife player, and former Hearts, Inverness and Livingston manager John Robertson.

Former East Fife manager David Baikie quit earlier this week with the side sixth in the 10-team table.
