Huddersfield Town’s Operations Director Ann Hough paid tribute to “a terrific team” who worked hard over two days to ensure the match against Bolton Wanderers went ahead.

While the undersoil heating was on throughout the weekend at the John Smith’s Stadium, the snowfall of Boxing Day evening caused a potential problem.

To prevent ice forming underneath the snow, groundsman Phil Redgwick and his staff decided to clear a good deal of surface snow on Saturday and then, from 8am yesterday, the job was finished after extra headers had been employed.

Work was also prolific to get the car parks and approach stairways clear and safe for supporters.

“It was a great effort from everyone who got involved and helped out and, when the referee arrived on the morning of the game, he was delighted with what we had done,” said Ann, who herself had snow shovel in hand.
