Club owner Dean Hoyle has spoken to the Huddersfield Town squad about his expectations for the season.

Back from holiday, the lifelong fan and chairman called straight in at PPG Canalside to get an update on preparations for the big kick-off on August 9.

Boss Mark Robins – who has new signings Radoslaw Majewski, Lee Peltier and Joe Murphy in his squad to face Oldham Athletic – explained the boardroom chief can’t wait for pre-season to end and the real action to begin against Bournemouth in the Championship.

“Dean spoke to the players about what he expects for the season, which is fantastic,” said Robins.

“He is excited about what we have done this summer and he’s really looking forward to the season.

“Dean has been enthused by the planning and the work we’ve done and he is totally behind what we are trying to achieve.

“He wants to drive the club on and he wants us to finish as high as we possibly can and he is the owner, so we try and deliver what he and the rest of the supporters want.”

Robins is hoping Danny Ward will be fit to play some part at Boundary Park on Saturday after a hamstring problem, while striker James Vaughan (calf) is not quite ready.

The manager added: “Dean is brilliant to work with and brilliant to work for, because he is someone who puts his heart and soul into the club as well as his own money.

“His vision, and all the help he gives to everybody around the place is absolutely welcome and we always try and deliver for him what he wants.

“Ultimately, of course, that is Premier League football. That might be unrealistic at this stage, but who knows? I’m not saying we are going to get promoted and I don’t want anyone reading that into what I am saying. You always set out with that aim, of course you do, but let’s just see how we develop.”
