SEAN MORRISON is pushing for a Huddersfield Town debut as manager Lee Clark plots a clean-sheet return at Tranmere Rovers tomorrow.

The 21-year-old centre-back arrived for a second loan spell from Reading and has already caught the eye in training.

And with the manager concerned by his second-placed side’s sluggish start against Brentford last Saturday, fans will await his team selection with interest.

Town, who go for a fourth successive League I victory at Prenton Park, where they have won on each of their last three visits, had to hit back from two down to sting the Bees.

And Clark pointed out: “We have to get back to keeping clean sheets – that’s what it’s all about. Look at (leaders) Charlton. They have just won two games by keeping clean sheets and scoring from set-pieces.

“Ultimately I am an attack-minded manager. I want my sides to play attractive football, create chances and score goals, and whatever system we play, I use wingers who are attack minded.

“But teams who win titles and promotion have a fair number of 1-0 wins to their name, and if we could get 19 of those in the games which remain, I’d be happy.”

Tranmere go into the match hit by injuries and struggling for points but Clark, whose side could chalk up a third double of the season after Wycombe and Brentford, pointed out: “They will give us a real test.

“I have a lot of respect for (manager) Les Parry. He has got them terrifically fit, and they work very hard for each other, keeping going right to the final whistle.

“They put a lot of thought into set plays, and always seem able to pull a new one out of the bag, which is something we must be wary of.”

Clark has full-back Calum Woods and midfielder Damien Johnson available.

Striker Lee Novak and midfielder Scott Arfield, who have both had ankle injuries, will be assessed after today’s session.
