David Wagner says Huddersfield Town will keep the opening stages of their clash with Championship basement side Bolton Wanderers in mind when they tackle second-bottom Charlton Athletic at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Town were 2-0 winners over the Lancastrians at the Macron Stadium in their first match of 2016, but only after negotiating a tough first 20 minutes.

Goals from Joe Lolley and Mustapha Carayol sealed a first double of the campaign after a 4-1 home win in September.

Now Town are seeking a second after winning 2-1 at Charlton in the game before Bolton were beaten at the John Smith’s.

“Charlton will be a tough, a big challenge,” said Wagner.

“Against Bolton, we had big problems in the first 20 minutes.

“It is in our minds to work very hard and be very focused from the first minute against Charlton.

“If we are able to show our best, we know we are strong enough to win this game.

“When we show our best, we know it is not very comfortable for the other team, and this is something we have to develop.”

Wagner says midfielder Emyr Huws, who missed the FA Cup draw with Reading through illness, is available, but may have to make do with a place on the bench.
