HUDDERSFIELD Town are closing in on the loan capture of Leicester midfielder Neil Danns.

It's believed they have pipped Championship rivals Bristol City in the race to bring in the 30-year-old, who could face one of his former clubs Birmingham at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

This morning Danns told his 30,880 Twitter followers that he was heading out on loan.

He wrote: "So just to keep you up to date I'm going on loan this afternoon I will announce who to around 1pm really appreciate the support, thank you.

"Need to play games, so it's best for all involved, it is to a club I've never played for before just so to stop all the speculation, thanks.

"And a team I haven't been heavily linked to."

Liverpudlian Danns, set to join for the rest of this season, started his career at Blackburn and has also played for Colchester and Crystal Palace.

He has just completed a loan spell at Bristol City.

Town already have striker Jermaine Beckford on loan from Leicester.
