Mark Hudson is looking forward to getting an early look at Brighton and Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest as the Championship swings into action on Friday night.

Chris Hughton’s Seagulls, who visit Town a week on Tuesday, host Dougie Freedman’s Reds in front of the Sky Sports cameras, and Town skipper Hudson will be glued to the screen.

“I’d imagine most of the lads will be watching,” said the 33-year-old former Cardiff City player, who has started his coaching badges.

“Of course our main focus is on the Hull City match, but it’s always interesting to see what else is going on, especially in our division.”

Much-fancied Derby County kick-off with a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, while Middlesbrough, also short odds for the title with the bookies, go to promoted Preston North End on Sunday for another Sky clash.

Hudson’s old club Cardiff have a Saturday lunchtime showdown with Fulham in South Wales while Leeds United versus Burnley is the other early game, which is also on Sky.

In the afternoon, Town boss Chris Powell’s old club Charlton Athletic are at home to QPR in an eye-catching London derby.

Sheffield Wednesday’s home meeting with promoted Bristol City will be of interest.

And there is a nice traditional touch to the game between Blackburn Rovers and Wolves at Ewood Park.

Rovers are Town’s first league visitors on Saturday week.

Meanwhile Town old boy Conor Coady is in line for an old gold bow after his £2m switch to Molineux.
