Sources close to Huddersfield Town say claims that Neil Warnock has turned down the chance to manage the club for a second time are well wide of the mark.

TalkSPORT, the radio station on which he is a regular as a pundit, suggested the 65-year-old had rejected an opportunity to manage the club for the remainder of this season.

Warnock bossed Town between 1993-95, twice taking them to Wembley, with promotion to the Championship won in 1995.

It had been suggested he would team up with Kevin Blackwell, a Town player during his previous stint.

Blackwell, 55, who has managed Leeds United, Luton Town, Sheffield United and Bury, watched Town’s 2-1 Championship win at Reading on Tuesday.

The hugely experienced Warnock has also managed Scarborough, Notts County, Plymouth Argyle, Oldham Athletic, Bury, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, QPR and Leeds.

But our sources say the claims of a comeback are nonsense and fabrication.
