HUDDERSFIELD Town fans should not expect to see Mark Robins' first-team squad at Canalside today, even though it's their official return for pre-season training.

Robins, who has strikers Jon Stead and Martin Paterson plus wingman Adam Hammill already added to his 2013-14 roster, will greet his players before sending them for fitness assessments.

This will be done in small groups and involve some work at the University of Huddersfield under the guidance of the club's new head of strength and conditioning Michael Rawson, who has joined after six years at Bolton Wanderers.

Coach Steve Taylor and performance guru Darren Robinson will also be keeping a close eye on things as Town's players are monitored for the first time after the summer training programmes, which were handed out at the end of the last campaign.

The senior squad - who start the Championship season against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday, August 3 - will be back at Canalside tomorrow, whereas today the Development squad will be put through their paces at the Leeds Road training complex, including new signings defender Jake Carroll and striker Daniel Carr.

Rawson will do some work with the Development Squad as well as the first-team professionals, with a lot of his focus being on prevention of injuries so that Robins has as many players as possible available at any given time.
