JORDAN RHODES will turn the clock back more than 50 years tonight after Scotland coach Craig Levein confirmed he will make his full debut for the senior side in the friendly against Australia at Easter Road.

Not since Denis Law, in the 1-1 draw with Wales at Hampden in November 1959, has a Town player started for the Scots.

While Rhodes has scored eight times in as many Under 21 outings, his sole senior game was as a substitute in the 2-1 friendly win over Cyprus in Larnaca last November.

Levein confirmed the 22-year-old would come in after QPR’s Jamie Mackie, the player he replaced against Cyprus, pulled out on top of the absence of Brighton’s Craig Mackail-Smith and Kenny Miller, who is with Vancouver.

“I had it in mind that Jamie Mackie would play but he has a calf strain, so Jordan will start,” said Levein.

“You look at his goalscoring record, it’s a tough one to beat.

“He is someone who has played that position for the Under 21s.

“We have a policy of promoting players who have done well, so it’s a no-brainer, he will start the match.”
