TOWN are encouraged by scans on injured Lee Novak – but he’ll still be out a minimum of two weeks.

The 21-year-old suffered a knee problem in the clash with Norwich City and was sent for a specialist check-up.

Former Gateshead player Novak – hugely popular with fans and with 11 goals to his credit – is definitely out of Saturday’s trip to Leyton Orient and the following Galpharm clash with Charlton Athletic.

But manager Lee Clark explained: “There is no tear to any of the ligaments and that’s very good news.

“Obviously, he is still on crutches and in a fair bit of pain, and the specialist says he is suffering severe inflammation.

“What we need to do is give him a couple of weeks to let the swelling go and for everything to settle down, and we’ll see what the procedure is from there.”

Late last night, Town were still awaiting developments in their bid to land big striker Steve Howard on loan from Leicester. He went on as a substitute in their 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
