Nahki Wells is more than ready to resume his Huddersfield Town frontline partnership with James Vaughan.

Injury problems for Vaughan mean there have been limited chances for the pair to play alongside each other since Wells’ Town-record £1.3m move from Bradford City last January.

They have featured for the full 90 minutes of the same match just once – at Blackpool in March.

The pair have had a further 186 minutes in tandem, spread over five matches, just one of them this season (at home to Middlesbrough).

Vaughan is fit again after a torn calf and vying with Wells and on-loan Grant Holt for inclusion in Saturday’s home Championship clash with Birmingham City.

“It’s great to have Vaughany back,” said Town’s nine-goal top scorer Wells.

“He’s an honest lad and works so hard, both in training and games. I have always wanted to play alongside him, but it’s not really happened.

“It’s been tough for Vaughany, but with Grant likely to go back to Wigan at the end of this month, what better time for James to come back in?”

Wells says he has learned a lot from playing alongside the vastly experienced Holt.

“He’s been great,” said the 24-year-old.

“Holty is a very experienced pro who has climbed the leagues and made it to the top of the pyramid.

“That’s exactly what I want to do and I have tried to take in all I can from him.
