LEE CLARK is today celebrating two bits of great news on the striker front.

Firstly Town’s leading scorer, Jordan Rhodes, has suffered no broken bones in his left leg and could be in line for a quick return to action.

And knee-injury victim Lee Novak, who has so-far missed pre-season work, has completed his course of treatment and appears to have responded well.

With Blackburn Rovers due at the Galpharm tomorrow night (7.45) and less than three weeks to the big League I kick-off at Notts County, the manager is delighted.

“It’s very positive news on both of them,” explained Clark, who is still trying to fix up a friendly to replace the cancelled one against Hull City.

“Jordan was X-rayed, but it showed no fracture and so it’s just a matter of letting the bruising come out, which it has already started to do and he’s feeling a lot better.

“We will keep an eye on him and, obviously, with it being pre-season we won’t push him unless he is 100% right, but if all goes well he could have an outside chance of playing a part against Blackburn.

“If not, then I have every confidence he will be able to take part in Saturday’s friendly at Barnsley.

“With Lee Novak, it’s really encouraging that the treatment has gone very well, so we’ll see how he goes from here.”

Long-term knee-injury victim Tom Clarke is the only other player not in training at the moment as Town build towards their League I campaign.
