TOWN fans who weren’t able to go down to Colchester and chose, instead, to follow the match on Radio Leeds were in for an unpleasant surprise.
With only one hour to go to kick-off, the radio station announced that match commentary would no longer be broadcast on a dedicated channel but would be shared with another match.
Worse was to follow. The radio station compounded their misguided decision by missing live commentary of Town’s first and second goals.
Email contact with the managing editor of Radio Leeds has so far elicited such gems as “The sports team will work hard to ensure they capture all the action as it happens, when it happens – and I know that they will work hard to bring you a quality product,” or, “We will work hard to build a show that captures the best of West Yorkshire sport around the region, bringing you first class coverage of the sporting issues that matter”.
Perhaps goals scored by one of West Yorkshire’s top clubs don’t rank as “sporting issues that matter”?
Town fans who feel aggrieved by this may choose to write to Radio Leeds at Broadcasting Centre, 2 St Peters Square, Leeds LS9 8AH or send an email to Rozina.Breen@bbc.co.uk
