THE Huddersfield Town Supporters Association is happy to report a successful outcome to the fund-raising effort last Sunday to support the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

All the participants enjoyed what was for many of them a new venture: a 5-a-side Walking Football Tournament.

After a round-robin league which saw each of the six teams play each other, Soccer City were the inaugural winners of the Cup Competition, beating a strong Huddersfield Town side, while the Plate contest saw the Forget Me Not Trust team, who lost all their round-robin matches, go through to the final only to lose on penalties to P4P4 Team Black.

A big “Thank You” to all the teams who participated. We managed to raise over £400 for the Hospice – well done to all.

If you weren’t able to join in this time, look out for a repeat sometime next year.

Be ready – get yourself in training!

The HTSA and Football Supporters Federation representatives met West Yorkshire Police officers, primarily to review the restrictions put in place last season for Town’s match against Hull City, as a pre-cursor for a meeting between the FSF and senior WYP officers arranged for June 28.

WYP were adamant that the restrictions were justified and pointed out that they had been agreed by the Football League and the two clubs.

In the event less than 500 Hull City fans turned up – having called for their own boycott– and it was acknowledged that both the match itself and the preceding protest match were incident-free.

Hull City will not be an issue next season but there will continue to be other high-profile Yorkshire derbies and it was agreed to try to arrange a three-way meeting with WYP, the Club and HTSA next month to review the fixture list and any possible consequences for both home and away supporters.
