We start this week with numbers – 44, 47, 63, 108 and 1908.

44 – This is the squad number for the charismatic Michael Hefele, arguably a future fans’ favourite and cult hero.

On Tuesday night, his cameo appearance, on his debut late in the game, with a somewhat opportunist equaliser, secured a point at rapidly-improving Aston Villa, to project Hef into Town folklore, and to give us a previously-unthinkable 4 points from 6, away from home, from teams managed by former Champions-League winning managers.

I wonder what Ian Holloway thinks about that?

47 – Our best league campaign start for 47 years - Town sit in third place in the Championship, with seven points from three games.

In 1969, we went on to win Division Two and get promotion to the top Division – can history repeat itself?

63 – The number of years since Town last beat Newcastle United at St James’ Park – now that’s a long time ago.

The Queen had just had her coronation, and Edmund Hillary had climbed Everest.

For the 3200 fans that went to the game, going into the away end at St James’Park felt like climbing Everest - some 200 steps just to get to the stand, and then another 50-60 steps if you were unlucky enough (like me) to have seats right at the back of the stand.

The team did well at Newcastle though, and the atmosphere in the away end was electric. It felt different to a normal league game, bigger somehow – with 52,000 fans, arguably the highest-attended league match we have played in for decades.

108 – This week saw Town celebrate their 108th birthday, and our 109th year in existence holds much promise.

A manager who is young, tactically aware, and has different game plans for different opponents.

A group of players who work hard for each other, either trying to play the ball forward, or get it back from the opposition.

And passionate fans that get behind the team and sing loud and proud for the lads. Long may it continue..

1908 – Not only the year that Town were founded, but the name of the new Members Pool Draw from HTSA, the 1908 Club, which we are announcing today, the 19th of August (19/08).

Starting September, we will be running a members’ monthly pool draw – for £5 each month, HTSA members can have their membership number placed in a pool draw, where each month, a winner will receive 50% of the monthly pool and the runner up 20%.

This will allow HTSA to create funds to give to local supporter groups such as the Young Terriers and the Disabled Terriers.

More details will follow in the coming weeks, but if you are interested, please let us know by emailing the chair (details below) for an information pack, or check out our website and social media pages.

Given the success of the coaches to Newcastle and Birmingham, HTSA are considering running a coach to Leeds on Saturday September 10.

If you are interested in this or would like to book a seat, please call the Travel line on 07905 580784 or email Bob Pepper on repepper.rep@gmail.com.

Remember, HTSA are your “voice of the fans” – we are here for you, and rely on your support and membership. If you’d like to know more and get involved with us, email our Chairman, Ian Lawrence, chair@htsa-online.co.uk, and we’ll get back to you with more details – remember we are active on your behalf, all the year round.

Have a good week – let’s make some noise against Barnsley!
