THE TOWN Supporters Association reported on an initiative to re-examine the use of the South Stand at the Galpharm last month, and we are pleased to say that club executives have agreed to a meeting tomorrow to listen to supporters’ ideas and to review the practice of shared stands at other grounds.

That meeting will also be an opportunity to discuss another issue relating to the use of the South Stand – an issue which was highlighted by Monday’s match.

On that occasion, the South Stand was occupied exclusively by away fans and the club issued a strategy whereby home fans would not be allowed to use the ground’s southern exits.

The definition of the strategy left many questions unanswered, as well as leaving unanswered the question as to why home fans should be inconvenienced when there is a large away following. Keeping away fans in the stadium is common practice elsewhere in the country, so what’s unique about the Galpharm?

Only this week we have been made aware that Leeds United are considering the relocation of their away section which will require some stand sharing – a move that relates directly to both issues highlighted.

Your views on these topics would be very welcome and can be sent either by writing to HTSA, PO Box 1908, Huddersfield, HD4 6WT or by emailing info@htsa.co.uk

A reminder of tonight’s meeting of the Patrons Club, when the guests will be Dean Hoyle and the Town board. Please note that the venue is Canalside, formerly known as the Syngenta Club, on Leeds Road. The meeting proper starts at 8pm but will be preceded by free helpings of sausages and chips for the first 50 Patrons to arrive.

The following Thursday is the next Heavy Woollen group meeting with the Madley brothers as guests, ready to answer your questions on refereeing matters.

Town’s next away match at Walsall sees both the Patrons Club and HTSA running coaches.

Departure times from the Galpharm are 9.30am (to arrive in time for lunch at Tamworth) and 10am, respectively.

Please call Martin on 01484 714287 for details of the Patrons Club trip or contact Sally for the HTSA coach, either by phoning 07926 165863 or by emailing travel@htsa.co.uk

There is also a special HTSA coach arranged for the first leg of the JPT northern final first leg at Carlisle on Tuesday, January 18, leaving at 4pm.
