TUESDAY night’s match brought us a very welcome three points at home. But what a price to pay with the horrific injury to Anthony Pilkington.

Although the incident itself appeared innocuous, it was obvious immediately to the crowd that something was very wrong and a quick check revealed that it was Pilks on the floor as the stretcher bearers were urged to attend to him as quickly as possible.

The crowd was shocked and stunned as the realisation dawned that one of Town’s key players was seriously injured.

We can only hope for the player’s sake that it isn’t career-threatening and wish him as speedy a recovery as possible.

Let’s hope as well that his teammates are inspired to play above themselves and earn promotion to the Championship – surely a fitting stage for Pilks’ abilities on his eventual return?

As for more immediate matters, this is a last-minute reminder that tonight’s Heavy Woollen meeting at the usual venue (Barclays Club, 189-191 North Road, Ravensthorpe, WF13 3AH) will have Andy Booth as the principal guest.

Then it’s another couple of long away trips – Bristol Rovers this Saturday and Brentford on Tuesday.

The Supporters Association coaches will leave the Galpharm at 8.30am and 1.30pm respectively and both are priced at our standard long-distance fare of £16.

Contact Sally either by phone on 07926 165863 or by email to travel@htsa.co.uk to book your seats on either of the trips, which should provide excellent entertainment.
