TOWN could come face to face with transfer target Chris Wood at Leicester on New Year’s Day.

The West Brom striker who has impressed on loan to Millwall is being heavily linked with a £1.25m move to the Foxes.

And Millwall are now said to be targeting Simon Church, whose loan from Reading to Town runs out after today’s Sheffield Wednesday clash.

Kiwi international Wood, 21, is back at The Hawthorns after notching 11 times for Millwall, two of them in the 4-0 win over Town at the New Den in October.

Town earlier this month confirmed him as a target, but only if they failed to extend the loan of Jermaine Beckford from Leicester.

That was achieved last week, although the former Leeds and Everton man is ineligible against his parent club at the King Power Stadium.

Wales international Church has one goal in six games for Town and last figured in the 2-2 home draw with Bolton on December 8.

Meanwhile Cardiff striker Craig Bellamy has stressed the importance of patience to his side’s fans as the Championship pacesetters chase promotion to the top flight.

In-form City claimed their seventh win in nine matches with their 2-1 home victory over high-flying rivals Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

And they head into today’s visit of Millwall boasting a five-point lead at the top.

The Welsh side have won 11 of their 12 league matches at home this season and will be expected to add another three points against the Lions, but Bellamy has urged supporters not to became frustrated if things do not immediately go to plan.

“The fans were okay (against Palace), but I still remember the first 10 and 15 minutes when one or two passes went backwards and there were one or two boos,” said Bellamy, whose side went behind after just four minutes before hitting back.

“Sometimes you have to keep the ball. We went a bit direct too early and, credit to Palace, they soaked that up and knew what we were doing. We had to be a bit more patient.”

Cardiff’s bid for promotion was boosted not only by their win over Palace, but by the fact a number of their rivals at the summit dropped points on the same day.
