LEE CLARK completed a dramatic double deadline-day swoop – and is hoping to add a young Premier League striker to his squad today.

Clark is hoping the paperwork went through in time on the unnamed target, but he was still awaiting confirmation from the Football League.

If it doesn’t happen today, he will sign the player as soon as the loan window opens again next week.

Already in are strikers Jonathan Tehoue and Lee Novak, although neither will be considered for tonight’s key home League I clash with Hartlepool, which the boss hopes will beat the big freeze. Frenchman Tehoue, 24, has agreed a deal to the end of the season but still needs international clearance despite being unattached.

Geordie Novak, 20, has signed a three-and-a-half year deal but will spend the rest of this season on loan at current club Gateshead.

Town have paid an undisclosed six- figure fee for Novak, but there is no fee for Tehoue, who has played club football in France, Cyprus, Belgium and Turkey.
