Huddersfield Town are being linked with a loan swoop for Norwich City striker Gary Hooper.

But Chris Powell is set to face competition from Bolton Wanderers counterpart Neil Lennon, who is interested in being reunited with his former Celtic prodigy at the Macron Stadium.

Hooper was part of the Norwich side which won promotion from the Championship with a 2-0 play-off final win over Middlesbrough but has had to play second fiddle to Cameron Jerome, who scored in the Wembley showpiece, who spearheads the attack in Alex Neil's preferred 4-2-3-1 setup.

The 27-year-old made 34 appearances in all competitions in 2014/15 and netted an impressive 12 league goals, as well as providing six assists despite starting in just 16 Championship matches.

The former Southend United, Hereford United, Scunthorpe United and Celtic hitman has been mentioned as a possible Town target in the past and could be deemed surplus to requirements by Neil as he looks to mould a squad capable of competing in the top flight following promotion.

BetVictor cut the odds on Town and Bolton signing Hooper to 2/1 for both, making them joint favourites for a signature several Championship will surely covet in this transfer window.
