Harry Bunn landed a Huddersfield Town contract – and celebrated by scoring a fourth goal in as many Professional Development League games as Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 4-1 at Hillsborough.

The 21-year-old, who impressed in a pre-Christmas loan spell and has been signed until the end of the season after agreeing an early end to his Manchester City contract, levelled in the 44th minute after Paul Corry put the Owls ahead.

Duane Holmes, Jordan Sinnott (penalty) and Chris Atkinson got the other goals for Town, who gave a club debut to Joe Lolley, their new £300,000 signing from Kidderminster .

It was a fifth consecutive win and 10th in 12 matches for Steve Eyre’s young Town team, who have lost only once – against Wednesday in the PDL Cup.

Bunn, whose father Frankie is a Town academy coach, had previously netted in the victories over Barnsley, Sheffield United, where he also had a loan stint earlier this season, and Crewe.

Town boss Mark Robins explained: “We were pleased with what we saw of Harry when he was on loan and he did well in a short space of time.

“He fitted in well with the group and caught the eye in his performances for the Under 21s, and his loan period proved to be extremely worthwhile.

“We believe Harry can develop further and we’ll work hard with him on the training ground to aid that development

“We will now continue to monitor his progress for the rest of the season. It’s a good opportunity for Harry.”

Town had keeper Ian Bennett and midfielder Anton Robinson in action against Wednesday as overage players.

Town’s Under 18s suffered a 3-2 defeat at Crewe on Saturday. Philip Billing and Regan Booty scored.
