LEE NOVAK hopes to lead Town’s FA Cup attack at Arsenal and promised: “We’ll play with no fear.”

The 22-year-old frontman says the nearest he’s previously got to the Emirates Stadium is talking about it with his mates, who have all watched there as Newcastle United fans.

But he’s determined to make the most of Sunday’s opportunity, when he’d like nothing better than to take the place of injured 16-goal leading marksman Jordan Rhodes for the fourth-round tie.

“It doesn’t get much better than a tie against Arsenal at their place,” enthused Novak, who grabbed 14 goals in his debut season and has two in this injury-hit campaign.

“We go there as underdogs, we know that, but we’re determined to put on a performance and do everyone proud.

“Most of our lads haven’t been to the Emirates before, so it’s something to really look forward to and we’ll play with no fear.”

Two years ago, Novak was trawling around Conference North outposts with Gateshead – they won the play-off final to gain promotion to the National Conference (the current Blue Square Bet Premier) – so the chance of turning out at such a massive stadium against one of Europe’s top teams is whetting his appetite.

“You could say going to the Emirates is a little bit different to the non-league places,” he joked.

“The last couple of seasons have been wonderful for me since signing for Town.

“When I think about it, things really couldn’t have gone much better – perhaps fewer injuries and a different result in last season’s play-offs would be all I could ask for.

“The good thing is I’m fully fit right now, ready to play matches and keen to do my bit for the team.

“Right now we’ve got a great cup-tie to look forward to and we won’t be afraid. We all want to put on a performance.”
