A FIRST League I win on the road for three months and a third clean sheet in four league outings at Yeovil last Saturday was just what the doctor ordered for Town as the race for a play-off place hots up.

And although Lee Clark’s side now lie outside the top six, the fact that many of their rivals have played more games means they are in a strong position with 20 fixtures remaining.

The first of those, against Carlisle at home tomorrow, is odds-on at 8/13 with Stan James to yield another three points as they entertain Betfred’s 5/1 outsiders.

The draw is rated by Victor Chandler at 11/4 and a second straight goalless affair at the Galpharm (after Bristol Rovers) is chalked up by William Hill at 11/1.

Town’s home record points to a positive outcome, despite that recent frustrating stalemate against Bristol, but the dogged Cumbrian outfit can nevertheless ensure it’s a close encounter.

Ladbrokes’ 6/1, chalked against Clark’s men bagging the only goal, as they did when the pair met here last season, and Totesport’s 7/1 for a 2-1 home success at 14/1 aren’t without appeal.

And those struggling to decide between the two can cover both at 888Sport, who quote 13/5 for the Terriers to edge it by a one-goal margin.

Elsewhere, Paddy Power rate Town at 7/5 to be in front at the end of each half but in what looks set to be a tight affair, it would be no surprise if scores were level at the interval (11/10, Jaxx.com).

Betdaq, meanwhile, chalk evens against a match total of fewer than 2.5 goals, those noting Town’s excellent defensive record at home can back them at 7/5 (Partybets) to win without conceding and at the other end, the opening goal is 11/2 with bet365 to again be struck by Nathan Eccleston.
