Mark Robins will today rubber-stamp his derby team selection and told Huddersfield Town’s players: “Go impose yourselves and win it for the fans.”

The boss will fine-tune Town’s preparation at Canalside having given the strongest possible hint yet that either Duane Holmes or Danny Carr could start against a Leeds side buoyed by the loan arrival of Dexter Blackstock.

Robins has a ‘played one, won one’ record in Town-Leeds derbies having triumphed 2-1 at Elland Road last season and appreciates the pride and atmosphere the clash generates.

He will remind his line-up about keeping cool heads following James Vaughan’s straight red card at Leicester, but is determined to maintain the attacking edge he believes can pay off.

“We understand what it means to the fans to win this fixture because of the bragging rights and feelgood factor, but there are also three points up for grabs which we want,” said Robins, who reports no injury problems and has Jazz Richards available .

“Leeds will come here with confidence having played well against Birmingham, but we did a lot of good things in a difficult test at Leicester and I’m looking for a performance of the same ilk.

“We need to tweak a few little things, but we are all up for the match and I just want the players to impose themselves.

“If we do the right things more often than not then we will send our fans home happy.”

Robins has Jon Stead , Martin Paterson, Holmes and Carr “knocking his door down” to get a start in place of Vaughan.

“It’s a mouthwatering game and everyone wants to play,” said the boss.

“We’ve got people pushing for starts who may not have had starts this season, and I will run the rule over them today.”
