HUDDERSFIELD Town are set to seal a deal for Blackpool midfielder Keith Southern according to reports.

Simon Grayson, who managed Southern when he got the Seasiders promoted to the Championship, is a long-time fan of  the 31-year-old.

The Blackpool Gazette reports the midfielder was in Yorkshire yesterday for talks and is believed to have agreed a three-year contract.

Southern, who is Blackpool’s longest-serving player, is due a testimonial match against Everton on August 5 as a reward for 10 years’ service to the club.

Reports suggest a deal has been struck with Town enabling Southern to play the first and last 15 minutes of the game.

He joined Blackpool in August 2002 and has been a virtual ever-present under five managers – Steve McMahon, Colin Hendry, Grayson, Tony Parkes and Ian Holloway.
