Huddersfield Town kick off their Championship season today with a palpable positivity surrounding the side David Wagner has built.

Brentford are first up for the Terriers in a repeat of the final match of last season when Town were comprehensively beaten 5-1 at the John Smith's Stadium.

The fixture will give supporters an early indication of the strides the club have taken in the close-season and three points will keep spirits up ahead of the away days to former Premier League big-boys Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Town fans have enjoyed the pre-season, watching their side lose just one match - to Liverpool - and conceding no goals in two matches against Bundesliga opposition - taking four hypothetical points in the process.

Despite the successful build-up to the 2016/17 season, some fans however are more pessimistic about the Terriers chances both against Brentford and for the season to come - but all are excited to finally see their side in competitive action for the first time in 91 days.
