A first-half double from Steve Mounié eased Huddersfield Town to victory against a lacklustre Brighton & Hove Albion side this afternoon at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Benin forward, recalled to the starting line-up in place of Laurent Depoitre, opened the scoring in the 12th minute, bundling the ball home from a Chris Lowe corner.

The player then doubled his tally and Town's advantage in the 43rd, again taking advantage of poor Brighton defending with a excellent header.

Backed by a raucous home crowd, David Wagner's men dominated throughout and were well worth the victory which moves them up to 11th in the Premier League table with Chris Hughton's Seagulls down to 13th.

Next up for Town is the visit of Premier League champions Chelsea on Tuesday, with Antonio Conte's side coming in the encounter off the back of a surprise defeat at West Ham United earlier today.

Here we'll hear from both Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner and Brighton boss Chris Hughton as they reflect on this afternoon's Premier League clash.

On playing on the front foot...

We wanted to score a third goal and kill the game - we always look to make opportunities and in the end it was a deserved result.

It was a very good performance and our fans were once again were outstanding for us.

We will continue to need them behind us if we want our home performances to continue...

On Chelsea...

I’m not sure if they will be focused on us, but we will certainly be focused on them now...

On Steve Mounie

He has had some problems with injuries but he has been training well and we were very confident he would do well today.

It is important we have both him and Laurent Depoitre fit with the busy run of games coming up.

It was a very good offensive performance all round from us today.

On the perfect match...

I am absolutely delighted for the staff and players - they create some very good performances and were very solid in the defence as well. I am very proud.

Here comes David Wagner...

The German boss now heads in as Chris Hughton departs...

On Anthony Knockaert's omission...

It was a tactical decision to leave him out as Huddersfield Town are very expansive and play with a lot of width.

On taking positives...

There weren’t many apart from a little spell after the interval when the game opened up but as it did it gave them chances to exploit as well...

On Lewis Dunk's performance...

With England boss Gareth Southgate in the stands, the question has been asked...

He’s continually improved and that is a performance that represents his quality - but no-one was really good enough today to get a result.

I’m not surprised at today’s result - there will always be games where you are not at your best away from home.

When that happens you need to weather the storm and keep clean sheets and limit the chances the opposition have...

On the defeat

I’m incredibly disappointed - they are a good side, especially at home and when we afford them the goals that we did then we were always going to struggle.

The better team won today but the goals were disappointing - especially the first one.
