Huddersfield Town's Danny Kane hopes to be in the Republic of Ireland squad for their European Under 17 Championship qualifying games in Armenia after featuring in both this week’s friendlies against Slovakia, who won 3-0 and 1-0.

England, Gibraltar and Armenia are the opponents for the Irish youngsters between September 25 and October 29, with the tournament itself taking place in Malta next year.

Kane made a summer switch from Dublin club Cherry Orchard to Town, whose Under 18s are in Professional Development League II action at Sheffield Wednesday this morning (11.00).

The Under 21s were 4-1 winners over the Owls at the John Smith’s Stadium this week.
