BENIK AFOBE is looking forward to being a part of Town’s play-off push.
As boss Lee Clark confirmed that his on-loan trio of Afobe, Kevin Kilbane and Danny Ward are all available as Town aim to seal an eventual Old Trafford triumph in the League I final on Sunday, May 29, the Arsenal youngster said: “I’m desperate to do my bit.”
Afobe’s double in Saturday’s 3-2 win at champions Brighton took his Town goal haul to seven in 31 appearances, 17 of them starts.
The England Under 19 international has won praise for his performances as the central striker in a three-man frontline in Town’s recent away games.
“I’ve gained unbelievable experience since coming here,” said the Londoner who helped England win the European Under 17 Championships and Arsenal land the FA Premier Academy League crown last season.
“For an 18-year-old to have been involved in these kind of matches is fantastic.
“I love the club and the town and having been involved since November, I really want to see the job through.
“We know the play-offs will be tough, but with the way we’ve been playing and the results we’ve been producing, there’s no reason why we can’t be successful.”
Clark, whose immediate concern is Saturday’s final regular-season fixture at home to Brentford, also confirmed that 19-year-old striker Jimmy Spencer will return to Town after his loan spell at League II Morecambe ends on Saturday.
However the terms of Nathan Clarke’s loan to League I rivals Colchester means he cannot be involved in the play-offs.
