DANNY DRINKWATER is hoping for a double boost today.

While the on-loan midfielder’s first priority is helping Town seal victory at Stockport, he’d be delighted if parent club Manchester United beat Tottenham at Old Trafford to heap the pressure on Premier League title rivals Chelsea ahead of their meeting with Stoke at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

The 20-year-old, left, in line for a 15th successive start at Edgeley Park, is a big United fan as well as player, and keeps in close touch with teammates and coaching staff.

“They regularly ring myself and the manager here,” explained the England junior international, who has made 32 Town appearances in all.

“They often have a representative at our games and it’s good to know they are keeping close tabs. Hopefully they will like what they are seeing.

“I’m contracted at United until the end of next season, and the aim is to go back there in the summer and try and force my way into the first-team squad, although it may be that they’ll want me to have another loan out.”
