DEAN HOYLE took one look towards Town’s play-off showdown with Swindon in 48 hours and declared: “This is our biggest game of the season so far – no doubt about it.”

The chairman is well aware fifth-placed Swindon are already two places and five points ahead of Town in the race for a top-six place in League I.

So he’s issued a rallying call to all fans to get down and back Lee Clark’s side in Saturday’s Galpharm crunch clash and help extend Town’s unbeaten run to seven matches with a win.

“We want to be in the top six so this game has become a virtual six-pointer, it’s massive,” said Hoyle, pictured.

“Swindon have emerged as a real force this season. I don’t think anyone would have been looking at this game as a ‘big one’ at the beginning of the season, but Swindon have been on a great run and have made it into the top six.

“That’s why this game is the biggest game of the season so far, no doubt about it. It’s a cracker.”

Hoyle is confident Town can regain the form which made them feared before Christmas – even against Danny Wilson’s troops, who have not lost in nine league matches.

“We are unbeaten in our last six games, but our performances recently have not been as fluent as earlier in the season,” admitted Hoyle.

“There is plenty of effort and commitment out there, but we just need to rediscover that free-flowing, devastating football we were playing a few weeks ago. Everyone knows we are capable of it and, when we click, no-one in this league can live with us.

“The fans, as always, will have a massive role to play, but now even more.

“We want to get back to winning ways on home soil and it’s been said plenty of times before, but the fans can be the 12th man when they get behind the team – the more fans that are in the ground and the louder they are, the better.”

Hoyle believes there’s a large army of ‘armchair’ fans who can help the play-off promotion cause by turning up at games.

“Our fans have been long-suffering I know, I am one of them,” he said.

“But now for the first time in years we have a team and players to be proud of and a real chance of going up, but to do it everyone has to give everything they have got – players, fans, staff, everyone – no holding back.

“Some of our rivals like coming to Huddersfield because it’s a nice place to play.

“They think we get big crowds but the atmosphere here is good for away teams. It’s time our fans made them eat their words.

“We need the people of Huddersfield to stand up and be counted and want a successful team. We need the support of all Town fans, young and old, far and wide, roaring us on – starting this weekend.

“We’ve issued some £10 tickets to non-season ticket holders to make it more affordable for people to come down and support Lee and the players, and I would urge everyone to do so.”
