KEITH SOUTHERN shrugged off suggestions he went to ground to get Jamie O’Hara sent off as Huddersfield Town came out on top in a tense Championship survival struggle at Wolves.

The home midfielder saw red after reacting angrily to a foul by Southern soon after Town had taken a 3-1 lead through Jermaine Beckford’s second goal.

The dismissal was a major setback for Dean Saunders’ side, who slipped to second-bottom as Town climbed to 19th, two points above the drop zone, thanks to a seventh away win of the season.

Saunders said: “Jamie was sucked in. He’s lifted his hands, but not punched him, just pushed him. But their lad has gone down as if someone shot him. It’s gamesmanship, and a joke the way he has gone down.”

He reacted, grabbed me by the throat and knocked me off my feet. I’ve been playing 15 years and I know you can’t do that.”
