LEE PELTIER says Town must embrace the partisan atmosphere of the New Den when they bid to become the first club to win at Millwall since March.

Kenny Jackett’s South Londoners have suffered three successive defeats on the road (at Barnet in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and Bristol Rovers and Gillingham in League I) and slipped to 16th in the table.

Peltier knows that will make them even more determined to take all three points in front of their own vociferous fans on Saturday.

But the right-back believes fourth-placed Town have what it takes to grab the win which would keep their pursuit of top trio Charlton, Leeds and Bristol Rovers on course.

“Millwall is one of old-school venues where the supporters let you know exactly what they think,” said the Liverpool product, who has played at the New Den twice with Yeovil.

“It’s a different kind of atmosphere to many other League I grounds, but it’s one I’ve enjoyed in the past.

“It really keeps you on your toes, and I think the key is to try and embrace it and ensure it adds to your focus and determination to do well.”

An ever-present since joining from Yeovil in the close-season, Peltier added: “We know we can win away games after Rotherham and MK Dons.

“Now the target is to go down to Millwall, get another clean sheet after Brentford last Saturday and make it three away wins on the trot, and there’s no reason why we can’t.”

Peltier, whose previous trips to Millwall with Yeovil ended in a 2-1 defeat (2007-08) and 1-1 draw (last season), is looking forward to facing former teammate Danny Schofield.

The ex-Town player joined Millwall two days after playing for Yeovil in their 2-1 defeat at the Galpharm last month.
