MATT CROOKS led the way with a double as Huddersfield Town’s five loaned-out development squad players caught the eye on the non-league scene.
Both midfielder Crooks and his Town teammate James Burke scored penalties as Radcliffe Borough won 3-0 at Clitheroe.
Crooks’ other goal was his third in four starts for Radcliffe, who are 17th in the Evo-Stik (Northern Premier) League First Division North.
Basement side Garforth clinched only their second win of the season with the help of Max Leonard.
He headed his first goal for Garforth in their 3-2 win at Harrogate Railway while fellow Town striker Connor Loftus was in action for leaders Mossley, who beat Ossett Albion 2-0 at home.
Town Under 21 skipper Jordan Sinnott made his fifth appearance for Altrincham in their 3-0 home win over Harrogate Town in the Blue Square North.
The quintet’s outings came as development squad colleague Tom Smith featured on the Town bench in their FA Cup tie at Charlton.
The ex-Tranmere and Manchester City right-back was brought in by development coach Steve Eyre during August to bolster the Under 21 squad.
First-team coach Ian Miller explained: “Steve knew Tom from his time at Manchester City. He has impressed in development games and hasn’t looked out of place when training with the firsts.”
Town’s Under 21s return to action after a mid-season break when Wigan visit Canalside next Monday (11.00).
Eyre’s side, who play in the Professional Development League Division II North, were 4-1 home winners over Nottingham Forest last time out in November.
Wigan are also the opponents in Saturday’s FA Premier Academy League game at Canalside (11.00).
Town’s Under 18s, who have also had a break from action, were 3-1 winners in a tune-up friendly at Oldham.
