NATHAN CLARKE completed his loan move to Colchester and said: “It’s time for something different.”

The 27-year-old centre-back is in line for a debut at home to Peterborough tonight after agreeing a switch to the Essex side until the end of the season.

A one-club man up to now, Clarke made his 300th Town appearance in the 2-2 New Year’s Day draw at Carlisle.

But that was his only game this season, and while the terms of the deal prevent him from playing in any play-off clash between Town and Colchester, the Halifax-born Town academy product is eager for action.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me,” he said.

“I had no reservations at all about joining Colchester

“It’s been frustrating this season. I’ve been on the bench a lot and that’s been difficult because I’m used to playing.

“But I’ve had to accept it because of the size and quality of the squad. at Huddersfield.

“I’ve been at Town since I was nine, and I’ve never known anything but Huddersfield, but it is time for something different now.

“Colchester are doing really well in League I and pushing for the play-offs so hopefully I can come in and help the team get to where they want to be.”

Town boss Lee Clark, whose side drew 0-0 at home to Colchester last Saturday, said: “Nathan hasn’t played as much as he would like and when players get frustrated we will try and help them out.”
