HUDDERSFIELD Town star Anthony Pilkington suffered a dislocated ankle and broken leg against Rochdale.

The young winger went down in the second half of Town's 2-1 win.

He broke his fibula just above his left ankle, which was dislocated.

The 22-year-old was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where his ankle was reset.

He will be assessed again this morning before undergoing surgery tomorrow.

The surgeon, Dr. Ashok Paul, has previously operated on Premier League footballers Alan Smith and Antonio Valencia when they suffered similar injuries.

Town have refused to speculate on how long the former Stockport County man may be out for.

Club spokesman David Sykes said they had already been inundated with messages of support and added that any cards or messages sent to the club would be passed on.
