GARY MEGSON said Sheffield Wednesday knew all about Jordan Rhodes but were powerless to stop him.

"We didn’t need a warning," said the Owls manager. "He is a real handful and we knew all about him.

"He is the best centre forward outside the Premier League. His movement is terrific, he works hard and his finishing is top drawer."

Wednesday fans, who had seen their side win eight of their previous nine home league games, were furious that referee Darren Deadman allocated a minimum of five minutes of added time, with Rhodes finally equalising in the sixth additional minute.

But Megson refused to condemn the Peterborough official, explaining: "The referee adds on whatever time he wants and we have to defend better.

"We became panicky and not streetwise enough. We should have seen it out."

However, Megson bemoaned his second-placed side’s ill luck with the late equaliser and added: "If you know what you are doing you can defend for an hour like that.

"Peter Clarke had gone up and they were just hoping something would drop.

"The fourth goal has to be seen to be believed. A scabby kick from Ian Bennett has gone along the ground and back on through.

"We should have had nine defenders in there to see the game out but we became a bit tally ho when we needed to be solid.

"If the ball had left the ground we would have dealt with it."

Megson concluded: "We have seen everything.

"We had the game lost, then we had it won and eventually we’ve drawn it."
