ROBBIE SIMPSON is desperate to face Rotherham in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tonight and told Town boss Lee Clark: “I’ll get the job done.”

Clark, who said any activity before the closure of the transfer window today is unlikely, has suggested he will shuffle his squad for the first-round tie against the League II pace-setters at the Don Valley Stadium (7.45).

And striker Simpson, who has had to make to do with just one start since signing from Coventry in the summer, said: “If I do get the nod, is up to me to put in a good performance, get a goal and give the manager a tough decision ahead of MK Dons on Saturday.”

Simpson added: “I’ve no complaints at losing out because Jordan Rhodes, Theo Robinson and Lee Novak have all been playing really well.

“I got a decent spell off the bench against Yeovil on Saturday (when Town won 2-1 to go fourth in League I), and I was frustrated not to score when I got through on their keeper one-on-one.

“I tried to dink it but didn’t get underneath the ball properly and he saved, but at least the chances are coming, and I’m feeling confident.

“Rotherham will be tough, but a Wembley final is a great incentive.”
