Huddersfield Town will face six new sides in next season's Championship, with five already revealed.

Relegated Premier League trio Norwich City, Fulham and Cardiff City will play in the second tier next term, as will promoted duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford.

The identity of the sixth side will be discovered on Sunday, when Leyton Orient and Rotherham United face off in the League One play-off final, but we continue our series with relegated Norwich City, who dropped out of the Premier League after a three-year stay in the top flight.

The season itself:

There was an air of inevitability about Norwich City's relegation from the Premier League as the season went on, with the decision to hold onto manager Chris Hughton until the latter stages of the season proving a costly one.

Neil Adams, who was appointed on a full-time basis yesterday, was unable to reverse the slide as a measly tally of just 28 goals - comfortably the worst in the division - ultimately sealed their fate.

Having secured a creditable 11th-placed finish in 2012/2013 and off the back of securing club-record signing Ricky Van Wolfswinkel and fellow forward Gary Hooper, hopes were initially high, and a 2-2 draw with Everton on the opening day suggested some of the pre-season doom and gloom was unfounded.

Van Wolfswinkel found the net in the opening-day stalemate with the Toffees but that was to prove as good as it got for the Dutchman, who failed to score again all season long, epitomising the Canaries' struggles in front of goal.

With Johan Elmander proving equally as wasteful in front of goal, it was largely left to the likes of Gary Hooper to lead the line, but precious little support from midfield - Robert Snodgrass aside - meant the former Celtic striker was fighting a losing battle.

Hughton and Norwich continued to struggle and a run of seven games without a win during the festive period should have offered enough proof to the club's board that Hughton needed to be axed, but wins over Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly saved him from the sack on multiple occasions.

They eventually moved to bring his tenure to an end after the home defeat to West Bromwich Albion and Adams was drafted in, but the caretaker manager picked up just one point from a daunting final run of games.

Lowlights of the relegation campaign:

- Norwich travelled to free-scoring Manchester City in hope rather than any expectation of a win, but what unfolded - particularly after a 4-0 defeat at Manchester United just days previously - was the stuff of nightmares as Manuel Pellegrini's side hit the Canaries for SEVEN.

- Tormentor-in-chief Luis Suarez was up to his old tricks as Liverpool smashed Norwich 5-1 at the start of December, as the Uruguayan notched four to take his tally against the East Anglian side to 11 goals in four matches. He would go on to score against them again in the reverse fixture later in the season.

- A 2-1 defeat to Cardiff at the beginning of February breathed new life - if ultimately futile life - into Cardiff City's survival bid and left Norwich beginning to sweat over their top-flight status.

- Losing at home to fellow relegation rivals West Bromwich Albion was enough to see Hughton relieved of his duties and effectively consigned a woeful Norwich side to the drop. Sunderland's tremendous end-of-season form confirmed the Canaries' plight.

Top scorer:

Gary Hooper - The 26-year-old actually finished level with the equally influential Snodgrass on six Premier League goals but won this title by virtue of his two Capital One Cup goals against Watford in a 3-2 win.

Norwich only lost twice all season when Hooper found the net and he scored one of the club's goals of the season with a swerving volley against Swansea City.

Other key players:

Leroy Fer - Doubts persist over the Dutchman's future at the club and he will surely seek pastures new given his talent at Premier League level. Only Snodgrass and Hooper found the net more times than Fer last season.

Nathan Redmond - The tricky winger grabbed four assists during 2013/2014 and was one of few players to gain any credit after some poor performances. He has been linked with a move away but appears determined to help his side to an immediate return to the top stage, something the club must use to their advantage.

John Ruddy - The England international is on standby for the World Cup this summer and is deserving of his place and reported interest from Crystal Palace after keeping 12 clean sheets in 2013/2014, the highest of any goalkeeper from a bottom-half side.

Last meeting with Town:

The Terriers and the Canaries last faced off on March 13 2010, with Norwich emerging 3-1 winners at the then Galpharm Stadium.

Town's profligacy in front of goal came back to haunt them as they failed to build on Neal Trotman's second-minute header, with Danny Drinkwater, Gary Roberts, Lee Novak, Anthony Pikington and Trotman all missing further gilt-edged chances.

Grant Holt punished the hosts in style by guiding home Wes Hoolahan's cross before Stephen Elliott took centre stage. First, the former Republic of Ireland international tucked away Holt's pass before sealing the three points by converting Simon Lappin's cut-back.

Did you know?

Norwich have qualified for European competition on just the one occasion in their history, reaching the third round of the UEFA Cup in 1993–94 but became the only British side to beat Bayern Munich in their former Olympic Stadium ground in the process.
