HUDDERSFIELD Town have had some top goalkeepers over the years, and certainly in the 1970s.

But who was the best of the men in green, which as our pictures show, was invariably the colour worn in that period.

That’s part of the debate as all season we’re looking for your help to pick the best Town teams from each of the last five decades.

Your Sixties dream team, which featured Terry Poole between the posts, was completed last Monday and published in Thursday’s Examiner (the other members were Derek Parkin, Ray Wilson, Roy Ellam, Trevor Cherry, Kevin McHale, Jimmy Nicholson, Jimmy McGill, Les Massie, Tony Leighton and Colin Dobson).

Each team is divided into goalkeeper, left- back, right-back, centre-halves, left midfield, right midfield, central midfielders and striker.

Every week we’ll give you a list of players to choose from for a specific position.

From here until next month, we’re going back to the 1970s and, this week, it’s the goalkeepers.

Poole, who played for Town between 1968 and 1977, has the chance of featuring in two of the select sides.

But you can also pick from the five others who featured in the Seventies – David Lawson, Gary Pierce, Chris Wood, Dick Taylor and Aln Starling.

Choose the man from the list who you felt was best at stopping the goals going in.

Just place your vote and we’ll tell you who claimed the spot in next week’s Final Whistle. There’s also a panel for comments, so tell us your memory of your choice.
