ANTHONY PILKINGTON hopes to open his goal account for Town before facing old club Stockport County next weekend.

The 20-year-old rounded off his Edgeley Park career with six goals in 12 games before joining Town in a reported £250,000 deal towards the end of last month.

Already impressive on the left wing, Pilkington hopes to score his first goal in Town colours at Crewe today – preferably in a win – to set him up nicely for next Saturday’s trip across the Pennines.

“Our attacking style suits me fine and I’d love to reproduce the form I had at Stockport on the goals front,” said Pilkington, a play-off winner with Stockport alongside Liam Dickinson.

“I haven’t been able to score so far (going into the Crewe game) but I’m sure that will change.

“It doesn’t bother me whether I play out wide, up front or just in behind, I’m enjoying myself, we’ve got some very good players and we are looking to push on after that great result against Leeds.

“I know what it takes to be a play-off winning side having gone through it with Stockport, and there’s no reason why it can’t happen here because we’ve got a very good squad.”
