JOEL LYNCH will be on Huddersfield Town’s trip to Scotland – whether or not he plays at Guiseley this afternoon.

The new centre-back (left) is a doubt for the opening pre-season friendly at Nethermoor because of a strained stomach muscle.

But he’ll be on the bus to Glasgow tomorrow as Town set up a training camp ahead of the games at Kilmarnock on Wednesday and Hibernian a week today.

“Joel’s problem is more of a niggle than an injury, and he could play a part this afternoon,” said Grayson of the former Nottingham Forest man.

“But at this stage, there’s no point in taking any risks, so it could well be that we err on the side of caution.

“But he’ll certainly come to Scotland with us, and we’re confident he will be okay for either or both of the games up there.”

While midfielder Scott Arfield is continuing his recovery from an ankle injury – the Scot is progressing well – most of Grayson’s other senior players will get a run-out today.

That will give fans a first chance to see new arrivals Adam Clayton (Leeds), Paul Dixon (Dundee United), Oliver Norwood (Manchester United) and Sean Scannell (Crystal Palace) in Town colours (they are due to wear blue and white stripes).

“We’ve had a tough week of double training sessions, so the lads are looking forward to a proper match,” said the boss.

“It will be a case of giving each of the players half an hour or 45 minutes.”

Last night’s scheduled Town charity cricket match at Barkisland was cancelled because of the weather conditions.
