Ishmael Miller hopes to live up to the old nickname of ‘Moston Menace’ and deliver goals to the Huddersfield Town armoury.

The 27-year-old striker – from the Moston area of Manchester – says Town coach Steve Eyre has always called him that since their days together at Manchester City.

He revealed a goals target for the season will remain secret, but Miller says he’s already enjoying life at PPG Canalside after his move from Blackpool and he feels ready to produce the goods to reward manager Chris Powell’s faith.

“This is a great challenge for me and a big opportunity and I jumped at the chance when I knew Huddersfield were in for me,” he said.

“Knowing Steve Eyre from the past was a big part of it because we go back a long, long way, and I was buzzing when I knew the gaffer wanted me.

“It seems a long time ago that I was the ‘Moston Menace’, but I do hope to be a menace on the pitch and, hopefully, I can bring some goals to the club.”

Miller says he can be a targetman or run in behind the opposition defence, and he’s looking forward to playing alongside both James Vaughan and Nahki Wells.

“I played against Vaughany as kids when he was at Everton and I was at City, and it will be great to be on the same side as him because he’s really good,” said Miller.

“Nahki has done brilliantly over the last few years as well, so hopefully I can bring some attributes alongside the pair of them and we can do well for the team – because that’s what really matters.

“The team spirit we have here is really good and I want to enjoy my football again. There is always pressure to deliver and, in this environment, I feel I can.”
